Easy Play Dough Recipe
This recipe was given to me many moons ago from a YMCA teacher, not really sure where she scored it, but it is a winner, never fails. Sometimes it may seem really sticky or not like play dough, just add a little more flour. To get vibrant colors, I use liquid color gels, found at Michaels craft store, they seem to give more of a vibrant color than traditional food coloring. Here's the recipe, let me know what you think! 2 Cups of Flour 1 cup of salt ( do not try kosher or sea salt trust me ) 2 tsp cream of tartar 2 Tbs oil 2 Cups of boiling Water Food Coloring or liquid gel or Kool - Aid mix ( smell yummy) Combine flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Mix well. Stir in boiling water, oil, and food coloring. Let stand for 10 minutes. Place on counter ( or table w/ children gathered) and knead until smooth, adding more flour if necessary. Store in air tight container in the refrigerator. ( I have never done and have been fine). Enjoy!

" Welcome"
Hi my name is Sara Downes, I have been in Early Education for 8+ years. Through the years I have gone from registered family child care to licensed family child care provider, I have participated with Stars, and attended many hours of professional development including NAFCC and VAEYC conferences. I have a strong commitment to the early education field and have a strong passion within the field and to learn more within my profession. Some philosophies that have inspired me have been Reggio Emeila and the Waldorf approach. Amazing experiences happen when the child's interests and needs are the primary focus and when children are given simple tools to explore. This blog will offer ideas, articles, and support for Early Educators and you may have access to my gmail calendar if you are in need of a sub/mentor/consultant for your program.
